PHALABORWA: Giant ‘MOTHWA’ pumpkin weighing 54,4kg

Now that is what you call a giant pumpkin.

The big day had arrived at the Kruger Park Spar in Phalaborwa on Friday 24 May.

Posing with the pumpkins from left: MOTHS Herman Sullwald, Dave Matthysen, Old Bill Lindy Fourie, Irene van Wyk and Skip Bischoff. Irene guessed the weight of the heaviest pumpkin at 54.2kg, closest to the actual weight of 54.4kg.

It was a hive of excitement as the annual ‘Giant Pumpkin’ weigh-in was in progress.

MOTHWA Billie Els’je van dyk handing over the winning cheque to Roger Clement who guessed the correct weight of the MOTHWA pumpkin.

The results: Heaviest pumpkin weighing in at 54.4kg and the MOTHWA 2019 Pumpkin weighing in at 18.4Kg.
