Lifestyle Football Club wins entertaining soccer match

Village Lifestyle Football Club overcame Madupa Lodge FC 4-3 on penalties in a well attended and highly entertaining game at Relela Sport Ground recently.

The game started on a high note with the home side, Village Lifestyle, controlling the proceedings.

It came as no surprise when Prince Maunatlala netted the opening goal for Lifestyle mid-way through the first half following a defensive blunder by Madupa’s Ashley Malatji.

Lifestyle continued to pile on pressure in search of the second goal but their concerted efforts were thwarted by Madupa’s acrobatic goalkeeper, Kgashane Monyela.

The game went for interval with Lifestyle still leading by one goal.

Madupa re-grouped in the second half in a bid to find an equaliser.

The introduction of Lesley Maake by Madupa changed the complexion of the game leading to an equalizer by Golden Ngobeni whose goal sent Madupa’s fanatical supporters into frenzy.

The goal followed the move initiated on the middle of the field by Bornface’Mabonny’Mahlane and Tshebo’Xavi’Mashatola.

The final result of the game was decided on penalty-shootouts following a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time Tumelo’West’ Ngoepe, who doubles as a DJ at Lifestyle, became the hero of the day after saving two penalties.

According the organisers, the purpose of the game was to entertain soccer lovers who have been starved of the beautiful game by the coronavirus and to give players who have retired from active football to showcase their skills and keep fit.
