Merensky’s first and u/15A cricket teams played against teams from High School Tom Naude on Saturday.

The first team enjoyed a home field advantage, and sent their opponents in to bat first. They were all out for only 91 runs in the 17th over.

Merensky settled the match in the 8th over thus claiming victory with 10 wickets. Excellent bowling from Johan Louw and Tlangi Mushwana,- 3 wickets each; Rynard de Lange and Asad Patel, 2 wickets each.

Best batting of the day by Nyiko Shikwambana – 26 and Rassie Pretorius – 51runs.The Plasie u/15 cricketers played at Tom Naude.

The home team decided to bat first, and were all out for only 83 runs after 20 overs. Merensky scored the winning run in the 7th over, thus winning with ten wickets standing.

Good bowling figures by Viraj Devhara -5 wickets; Richard Coleman and Matthew Oosthuyse, 2 wickets each. Excellent batting by Viraj Devhara -46 runs, and Richard Coleman, 40 runs.The second team played against PHS on the Merensky oval.

The Plasies batted first, setting a score of 163 all out.

PHS was all out for only 121 runs. Thus Merensky won with 42 runs. Good batting: Dylan Oosthuyse – 48; Reinart Schoonbee- 16.

Bowlers worth mentioning: Ruurd Jacobs- 6 wickets and Blake Linder – two wickets.On Wednesday the 29th August, The Plasie second team played against High School Ben Vorster at the Merensky Oval. Merensky batted first, setting a score of 156.

Ben Vorster were all out for 147. Merensky won the game with 7 wickets standing. Christopher Hamilton scored 37 runs, and Philip Nel 24. Philip also took two wickets, together with Reinart Schoonbee.
