New cluster commander for Tzaneen

A new Tzaneen cluster police commander has been appointed with effect from last Friday.

Brigadier Thomas Shingange replaced Major General Maggy Mathebula, who has been transferred to the provincial police head office.

Shingange was the Station Commander in Polokwane. Upon his arrival on Friday, he immediately met all the station commanders and the commanders of special units such as Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS), crime intelligence, public order police, etc.

The aim of the meeting was to unpack his plan of action in the fight against crime.

Shingange is determined to reduce crime drastically, fight head-on all violent crimes, deal effectively with the lawlessness in this area and to ensure that all the repeat offenders are dealt with accordingly in conjunction with the Department of Justice and the National Prosecution Authority (NPA).

Shingange wants to ensure police visibility in the roads to stop transportation of all types of illegal goods including stolen properties.

He will interact with all the policing stakeholders in the area to introduce himself, to get their inputs on policing and to strengthen the everlasting partnership with all of them in the fight against crime.

The stakeholders includes traditional authorities, farming community, Community Police Forums (CPF), local businesses, security companies, the District and local municipalities and also the justice cluster departments.

Shingange is a seasoned and highly experienced crime fighter. He previously served as the station commander of both Modjadjiskloof and Tzaneen police stations respectively and he has done exceptionally well in the fight against crime.

He is determined to enforce team work spirit to ensure effective policing.

Shingange has called upon all community leaders/members to report any misuse of state resources especially motor vehicles to station commanders or to him.

He is hereby declaring war against any criminality in this cluster and as a result, he is pleading to all the citizens to support the police unconditionally by supplying information about any criminal activities happening in their areas.
