America’s Black Friday goes local
Some of South Africa's leading retailers like Checkers, Game, CNA, Dis-Chem and Hifi-Corp jumped at opportunity to also have massive discounts on Black Friday. Shops are crazy busy and Letaba Herald visited Checkers to see what the fuss is about.

Black Friday originated in America.
It is the day after Thanksgiving that is regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
Retailers open earlier and offer amazing promotional offers.
According to Wikipedia, an alternative explanation is that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss (“in the red”) from January through November, and “Black Friday” indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or “in the black”.

Checkers is packed with people and the rows are unbelievably long and people are queuing for parking.
The community grabbed at the opportunity, literally, with both hands.
