Stokvel robbed of thousands outside Tzaneen

A member of a stokvel group was robbed of over R96 000 in cash by armed robbers at Bellview, Bolobedu on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said four unknown armed men forced their way into a house the house of a 42 year-old woman and they stole the money.

Ngoepe said the money that was stolen was savings contributed by a group of women since January.

They were going to share the money.

Ngoepe appealed to stokvel groups to use electronic transfers when sharing out their savings, warning that robbers were targeting such groups during the festive season.

Ngoepe said anyone with information about the suspects, may contact the nearest Police Station or the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line 32211 or the Cluster Commander; Brigadier Thomas Shingange at 082 565 8155 for twenty-four hours.
