Bank cards fraudster beaten to death

An ATM fraudster was beaten to death by an enraged mob at Loraine Village in Sekororo last Tuesday.

Sipho Ndofaya Mhlongo from Nkowankowa Township, was attacked with various objects until he died after he allegedly tried to commit fraud while queuing in an ATM at a local shopping centre.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the man was allegedly targeting to defraud one of the people in the queue when other people who were in the queue noticed his criminal activities.

“They caught him and severely beat him to death with various objects, including stones,” said Ngoepe.

He said police condemned the incident and called on people not to take the law into their own hands.

Police investigations are continuing.
