Bush romance gone wrong

A couple who were having an adulterous affair met for a lovers rendezvous in the bushes near Santheng Village got more than they bargained for.

According to Hoedspruit police spokeswoman Constable Livhuwani Mulaudzi, the couple were busy making love when they were caught off guard and ambushed by an attacker who pointed a firearm at them.

‘The suspect fired a shot at the male victim but missed, he robbed the couple of their phones and items,’said Mulaudzi.

She said the couple were then instructed to remove all their clothing and the attacker then took the female victim into the bushes and raped her.

She said the couple did not open a case due to the fear of their spouses finding out about the circumstances in which the robbery and rape had occurred.

‘Police urge the community to please choose safe places if they want romantic rendezvous as going into remote bush areas can be dangerous, rather go to a hotel or a safe house, instances like this can lead to robberies, rapes and murders,’concluded Mulaudzi
