Four killed and five injured in taxi accident

A Taxi accident left four people dead and five injured along the Eiland public road outside Letsitele this morning.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said, a Toyota quantum kombi lost control and overturned in the early hours of Wednesday around 05:30.

According to Ngoepe the kombi was transporting nine students who were coming from the University of Venda for registration back to their homes at Nelspruit, Mpumalanga province.

“Four passengers being two men and two woman or around their 30’s died instantly,” said Ngoepe. He said the five injured passengers together with the 35 year-old driver were taken to Letaba Hospital with serious injuries for medical treatment.

“The cause of this accident is still unknown at this stage but Police investigations are still continuing,” concluded Ngoepe.
