Minor storm hits Tzaneen

A minor storm kept some residents on their feet in the early hours of this morning...

The residents of Tzaneen experienced a storm in the early hours of Thursday.

Although it was not a severe one, some residents found it hard to sleep and it also caused some minor damages.

A parking roof of a building next to JB Spares was blown off.

Schalk van der Merwe of JB Spares said when he drove to work this morning he was shocked to see the roof.

“I was the first person to come to work and I was shocked when I saw it. We could not enter into the building and we struggled for about 20 minutes to remove parts of the roof,” he said.

He added that their pipe was affected by the roof but they managed to fix it.

“Luckily no one was around because if there was someone we could be speaking a different story now,” he said

Another resident Petunia Khosa said she was scared the roof was going to fall on them. “The wind was very strong, I was very scared,” she said.

A tree also fell due to the storm in Park street.
