Overseas tourists robbed at well-known Magoebaskloof Hotel

Overseas tourists were robbed while staying at the well-known Magoebaskloof Hotel on Wednesday night.

The tourists are believed to be from Peru and were in the area to visit, amongst others, some of the big avo producers including Westfalia.

According to a reliable source the tourists were robbed of  their money, cellphones and other valuables.

The FOH manager of the hotel did confirm an incident this morning to the Letaba Herald, and assured us that the “guests are doing fine and are okay.”

Letaba Herald is still waiting for comment from the hotel manager.

‘We are saddened by the event. The Greater Tzaneen Tourism Association condemns any attacks on tourists and we strive to make our area safe for our visitors,’  Marga Hagens, secretary of the Greater Tzaneen Tourism Association said to the Herald.

This comes after 36 Dutch tourists were robbed earlier this week while traveling from OR Tambo International Airport to Fourways on a Megabus.

The group, mainly elderly tourists was allegedly followed from the airport, held up by armed men dressed as policemen, taken hostage, beaten and driven to a quiet spot where they were subsequently robbed of all their valuables, money and luggage.
