The Acornhoek police received a tip-off only to find the deceased’s body burnt beyond recognition.
According to Captain Mpho Nonyane, the Acornhoek police spokesperson, the man was a suspect in a murder case where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped, stabbed and left to die on January 7.
“The deceased had stabb wounds on the face and head, she was facing down in a pool of blood, naked”, stated Nonyane.
“We urge the community to cooperate with the police and courts to put the people who committed the gruesome murder behind bars. I am appealing to our people to cooperate with the Criminal Justice System, by reporting criminals and making statements to the police, so that criminals may be sentenced accordingly,” said the Provincial Commissioner, General Mondli Zuma.
