A 32-run victory over Mohodi Hub earned Nkowankowa Hub the Limpopo u/19 girls' cricket crown and a place in the regional Noordvaal tournament.

TZANEEN – The Nkowankowa Hub girls’ cricket team continued its winning streak after being crowned u/19 High School Limpopo League champions on Saturday, October 24.

The team claimed the provincial title after defeating Mohodi Hub in the final at Merensky Agricultural Academy.

Batting first, Nkowankowa scored 105 all out in 20 overs before restricting Mohodi to 73/6 in their allotted 20 overs, securing a 32-run victory.

As provincial champions, Nkowankowa will compete against teams from Gauteng, Mpumalanga and North-West in the Noordvaal competition in Kempton Park on Saturday, October 31.

The quarterfinals and semi-finals will take place this weekend, with the final scheduled for November 7 at a venue yet to be confirmed.

Coach Blessing Mabunda praised his players for their determination and consistent performances.

I’m proud of the girls. This victory shows that they have talent and experience.

“We approach every match as if it is our last, giving our best and never underestimating our opponents,” he said.

Mabunda added that the competition would also serve as valuable preparation for the national cricket week in December.
