The annual fundraising marathon aims to improve healthcare services by supporting upgrades to Ga-Kgapane Hospital's maternity and paediatric wards.
LIMPOPO – Her Majesty Queen Masalanabo Modjadji VII joined community members, local government leaders and healthcare workers on Saturday, October 24, for a fundraising marathon aimed at improving healthcare services at Ga-Kgapane Hospital.
The Rain Queen Masalanabo Modjadji VII Annual Race, organised by the Balobedu Royal Nation through the Pula Ya Balobedu Foundation, brought participants together to raise money for much-needed medical supplies, improvements to the hospital’s maternity and paediatric wards, and general maintenance.
The event, which started and finished at Ga-Kgapane Hospital, featured 5km and 10km routes, encouraging residents to participate in a day dedicated to community wellness and charitable giving.
Among those who supported the initiative were Mopani District Municipality Mayor Dagma Mamanyoha and Greater Letaba Municipality Mayor Rosina Ramalatswa.

Both mayors participated in the event and completed the 5km route, demonstrating their support for efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the area.
The marathon also attracted support from Kgapane Hospital staff, Letaba TVET College’s Kgapane Campus and members of the Bolobedu community, who came together in support of the fundraising initiative.
Mamanyoha called on businesses and private individuals to support the queen’s initiative, emphasising the importance of ensuring that healthcare facilities have the necessary resources to provide quality services.
All participants who completed their respective races received medals in recognition of their participation and contribution to the event.
Money raised during the event will be used to upgrade and equip the hospital’s maternity ward, purchase medical supplies and improve the overall hospital environment.
