Police operations paid off in Giyani and Tzaneen

The Limpopo police in a concerted effort by the Detectives, Crime Intelligence and Crime Prevention Units have made a major breakthrough in arresting criminals which were terrorising different communities in the province.

The pistol that was recovered by the police in the Maake area during the 'ceasefire operation' recently.

In the Giyani cluster, the police arrested three suspects for burglary who were caught in the act after receiving information about the criminal activity in the area.

The suspects were arrested after they broke into a house at Mghongoma Village and were immediately apprehended with the assistance of community members.
The police recovered three Plasma TVs during the arrest.

The three suspects were identified as; Maotsuri Soyabi (34), Elias Makokotela (42) and Tyson Tshibaro (24).

“All the arrested suspects have already appeared before the Giyani Magistrate Court on charges of burglary residence.

“They were all denied bail they will soon appear in court again for bail application and for further Police investigations.

“The suspects were also linked to other burglary cases around Tshilwavhusiku policing precinct in the Thohoyandou Cluster and for which they will appear in court soon.

“This is believed to be one of the bigger criminal syndicate which is targeting plasma Tvs, laptops and cellphones,” explained Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, Limpopo Police Spokesman.

Meanwhile in the Tzaneen Cluster, the joint Intelligence driven Operation “Ceasefire” was conducted by both the Tzaneen Cluster Crime Intelligence and the Cluster Task Team around Tickeyline Village in the Maake Policing precinct outside Tzaneen.

Three suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from Possession of suspected stolen properties to possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

During the arrest, the following items were confisticated; one 7,65 mm pistol with one magazine, 10 live rounds of ammunition, groceries, cigarettes, airtime vouchers, R1300 in cash and a VW Polo, with the total amount of the recovered items estimated at R350 000.

The Preliminary Police investigations revealed that these items were stolen during armed robbery incidents that were committed around the Giyani and Tzaneen Clusters in recently.

The suspects will appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate court soon.
