Learners receive sanitary pads

Young people building a better community one day at a time

A local young man and his friends are on a mission of making a difference in their community and are already making a great impact.

Amukelani Shirindzi, a second year Law student, partnering with his friends and Akanani Foundation have donated hundred packs of sanitary pads to the learners of Ntwanano Junior Primary School in Burgersdorp Village outside Tzaneen.

“The reason I started donating the pads is, because when I was in high school one of my classmates used to skip class and I ended up asking her why she was missing class and she told me that she was on her periods and she could not afford buying sanitary pads.

“That is when I developed a passion for helping other girls in similar situations,” explained Shirindzi.

The team also motivated the learners and gave some of them stationery.

“We are honoured by the visit and we hope they can continue donating to our girls and they are welcome anytime,” said primary school.
