UPDATE: Taxi war erupts in Hoedspruit – suspects denied bail

“We cannot release the names now pending further investigations which may include the identification parade...”

The ten suspects aged between 26 and 44 arrested for attempted murder on Friday, January 25, appeared before the Hoedspruit Magistrate Court on Monday, January 28 and were all denied bail.

Their cases were all postponed to February 4 for formal bail application and further police investigations.

“We cannot release the names now pending further investigations which may include the identification parade,” stated the Spokesperson of the Limpopo Police, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

He also stated that he would give a full update of who the involved taxi associations are after the police finalise their investigations.

The suspects were arrested after a shootout allegedly took place at around 13:00, after security vehicles hired by one faction, to escort their taxis, was confronted and chased by another faction.

According to the police the security vehicles occupants then responded to the confrontation by opening fire and injuring three men during the process.
