TZANEEN: Mafutsana dominate the Thabina Circuit Awards

Mafutsana High School dominated the Grade 12 Thabina Excellence Awards, which were held at Lenyenye Community Hall last Thursday.

The school produced the Best Learner in the Circuit, Mapula Moswatsi; Best Teacher in Sepedi, Matlala K.G; Best Teacher in Accounting, Mafhumadi R.P and the Most Improved School in Mathematics from 51% to 76,80% in 2018 among many other awards.

However Sekaba High School, took the Most Improved School from 69.57% in 2017 to 92.6% and the Top Performing School in the circuit.

The occasion was attended by current Grade 12 learners from different schools within the circuit, teachers, School Governing Bodies, The Mokgoboya Traditional Authority together with Maake Traditional Authority, The Greater Tzaneen Municipality among others.

Dr Velly Bopape, was the main speaker of the day, he encouraged the students to study hard and to never allow their backgrounds to deter them from achieving their dreams.

“Show commitment and determination in all you do, refrain from negative associations that don’t add anything,” said Dr Bopape.

Meanwhile Mpho a learner from Mafutsana challenged her fellow matriculants to detach themselves from social media and focus on their studies until the end of the year.

“I dare you to take a little pain and study your books, commit yourself and say no partying, no social media and no TV until the end of the year,” she explained.

The Thabina Circuit Manager, Tom Kgomo also gave two special awards to his educators; Evelyn Malahlela from Pusela High School for being the Best Teacher in Excellent Leardership in Secondary School in Limpopo and Mothubuka S, for his success as a National Softball Empire.

The audience were entertained by live music from Gospel Artist, Andy Ramatsoba and Sekaba dance.

Kgomo concluded by congratulating his educators and learners and also encouraged them to improve in this year’s marks.
