Unicorn celebrates Easter in box cars

The school had over 130 entries which meant 130 amazing box cars that exceeded the expectations of everyone involved!

Unicorn Preparatory School held a fun ‘Box Car’ racing day Thursday April 25!

The school had over 130 entries which meant 130 amazing box cars that exceeded the expectations of everyone involved!

To create excitement ‘The Stig’ arrived at school hyping scholars into full blown race mode. Box Car themes ranged from unicorns to ice cream trucks, transformers, ambulance, Knight Rider and a Paw Patrol helicopter!

Sponsors Chris Jones from Mercurius motors and Marco Lottering from NTT Tzaneen.

Unicorn pupils, teachers and parents had lots of fun watching the cars race and the school spirit was great with the Grade 7’s leading the school with war cries!

Zila Kruger and Isabella Alcock were on standby in the ‘Pits’ as Unicorn’s qualified first aiders. Marco Lottering from NTT Tzaneen had a tough job selecting the winners of the category’s: Most Original Box Car: Winner: Transformer: Optimus Prime built by Stephen Johnson (Grade 5) 2nd: Tyronne Kurton (Grade 6) Best Box Car Accessories: Winner: Cara van Zyl (Grade R) Helicopter 2nd: Elizabeth Hammond (Grade 3) Most Creative Box Car Artwork: Winner: Daniel McLaren (Grade 6) ‘Formula 1 McLaren’ 2nd: Lindeni Tswale (Grade 3) Unicorn Preparatory would like to say a big thank you to Chris Jones from Mercurius Motors, Tzaneen for donating awesome Mercedes Benz prizes to the category winners and being their special guest assisting in handing out prizes.
