Tzaneen: Robbery syndicate sentenced to life imprisonment

"Four of the accused who were on parole for similar previously committed offenses, were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder."

Five members of an armed robbery syndicate aged between 31 and 41 were slapped with long jail terms on Friday 3 May by the Polokwane High Court for a series of serious and violent crimes which they committed in the Tzaneen are during 2016, according to Col Moatshe Ngoepe, SAPS spokesperson.R

“Four of the accused who were on parole for  similar previously committed offenses, were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 15 years for armed robbery, 5 years for conspiracy to commit armed robbery, 3 years for possession of unlicensed firearms and one-year for possession of unlicensed ammunition,” Ngoepe said.

The four accused are:  Gideon Matshaba (35), Oupa Malapile (34), Joshua Nkgapele (41), Musa Tembe (31).

The fifth accused, Tshepo Metle (35) was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit armed robbery, 3 years for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and six-months for being in  possession of unlicensed ammunition.
