Gauteng man linked to illegal mining killed in Letsitele

The man was still outside the house talking to some of the employees when an unknown assailant entered the yard, shot him and fled on foot.

Police in Ritavi are looking for a man who allegedly shot a Zimbabwean man on Wednesday, June 12 around 19:30 at Zanghoma Village outside Letsitele, according to the police.

“It is alleged that the 41-year-old man, coming from the Carvinal City in the Gauteng Province, arrived at a house in Zanghoma village to pay his “illegal mining employees,” Coll Moatshe Ngoepe said.

“The man was still outside the house talking to some of the employees when an unknown assailant entered the yard, shot him and fled on foot with his cellphone and undisclosed amount of money,” explained Ngoepe.

The deceased was  identified as Frank Joe Moyo.

The Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has also condemned the killing.

“The cold blooded killing of anyone cannot be accepted,” Ledwaba said.

The police have launched a manhunt for the suspect involved and appeal to anyone with information that can lead to his arrest to contact Colonel Cecil Machimane on 082 451 7181 or the crime stop number 0860010111 or the nearest police station.
