R71: Two die in head-on collision with bus

The bus was carrying students from Lephalale FET College to Phalaborwa.

Three vehicles were involved in an accident on the R71 close to Rubbervale in the Gravelotte area.

“The vehicles involved were a bus, a light delivery vehicle and a Toyota Fortuner. It is alleged that the bus lost control and collided head on with the light delivery vehicle. The Toyota Fortuner hit the bus at the rear end,” Matomi Moremi, spokersperson for Limpopo Roads and Transport said.

The bus was caring students from Lephalale FET College to Phalaborwa.

The driver and one of the passengers in the delivery vehicle died on the scene. Another passenger sustained serious injuries.

The 78 passengers that were in the bus survived with slight injuries, according to Moremi

All patients were transported to Maphuta Malatji hospital and Letaba hospital.
