Masemola visit the streets of Dan Village

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Namane Dickson Masemola payed a surprise visit to the  Ritavi Police Station at Nkowankowa on Monday evening.

He took the opportunity to join the Community Policing Forum and the local neighbourhood watch of Dan Village during their community based crime prevention routine Patrols.

Since May 1 hundreds of the men from the village leave behind their comfortable beds to protect the community.

“The community was once terrorised by gangs of crime and substance abuse in the past until the Premier of Limpopo Hon. Stanley Mathabatha intervened and subsequently, they came to a point where they organised themselves to work with the police and started patrolling to get rid of the problem from the streets of their village,” explained Joel Seabi, Provincial Spokesman for transport.

The MEC undertook the initiative in order to intensify support to the people in fighting crime, and in line with the stance of government to empower communities in their union with police against crime.

“It is also part of the MEC’s drive in building up to the launch of OPERATION SWARA TSOTSI which he will launch together with the Provincial Commissioner of Police soon,” Seabi concluded.
