The deputy minister gave Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba a task to advertise posts for two officers who are willing to work at the satellite station immediately.
Community members say that they no longer feel safe even in their own homes, because criminals break-in their houses and steal from them.
The Deputy Minister of Police, Cassel Mathale, accompanied by the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Dickson Masemola hosted a Ministerial Imbizo at the Lorraine Sports Ground in the Sekororo area of Maruleng Municipality on Monday, November 4.
The imbizo was under the theme “Zizojikaizinto“ (things will change) aimed at addressing issues of Gender Based Violence, murder, rape and trio crimes.

The area is also one of the hotspots when it comes to criminal activities in the province hence the event took place there.
“In March my house was broken into, where criminals stole groceries, a plasma and home sound system. I resorted to installing a home alarm system in my house, not because I have a lot of money, but because I had no other choice,” explained Esther Seokoma, a local resident told Letaba Herald.

As part of the proceedings of the event, Mathale also launched the provincial Safer Festive Season Operations aimed at ensuring the safety of the citizens during the festive season and the Community in Blue Concept that seeks to invigorate working relations between the police and the community members.
One of the challenging issues in the area is the shortage of police officers at the Sekororo Satellite Police Station.

The deputy minister gave Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba a task to advertise posts for two officers who are willing to work at the satellite station immediately.
He also promised that he will deploy the Tactical Response Team (TRT) to instill order in that area soon as Monday, November 11.
Seokoma and others said they were happy with Mathale’s decision to bring Tactical Response Team (Amaberete).
