Community protests left roads closed
Recent protest actions in the Hoedspruit area saw the Department of Transport closing off roads and giving alternative routes for motorists to use.

A protest that broke out earlier this week resulted in multiple roads being closed off and people being advised to use alternative routes.
The Limpopo Department of Transport reported on Tuesday morning that the R25 would be closed all morning along with the D1399 Loskop road, the D856 Philadelphia road and the R573 Moloto road at Moteti.

This comes after a service delivery protest broke out in Moutse where the community is said to have been protesting for a shopping complex as Herald was told by a source who spoke on anonymity.
Sergeant Livhuwani Mulaudzi, Hoedspruit SAPS spokesperson, told Herald that a memorandum of demand was handed to the municipality.
Another report came in shortly after the Department of Transport issued the first road closure notice.

The local department had also stated that there would be traffic officers in those areas to advise road users on which alternative routes to use.
Joel Seabi, spokesperson for the Department of Traffic told Herald that the roads have since been opened and are operational now and clarified what the protest was about.
