Woman treated after accident on the R71

A 45-year-old woman is critically injured, after two vehicles collided on the R71 crossing next to the Tzaneen Correctional Centre on Wednesday morning.

According to Tzaneen Police spokesman, Sgt Maurice Nkhwashu, the woman was driving on the R36 in a blue Chevrolet sedan.

She crossed the road without seeing a truck which had the right of way coming from Haenertsburg.

“The two vehicles collided and the sedan was wiped away by the truck and left on the side of the road.

“There were no fatalities and the only person who was injured is the woman driving the sedan.

“The driver was rushed to Van Velden Hospital for medical attention,” he explained. The police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
