Fire damaged house gets facelift
A pensioner whose modern RDP house was destroyed by a mysterious fire is moving back into the house at Mookho Block 6 village in Bolobedu.
The house was renovated by building contractor and philanthropist, Lesley Maake who as a donation to Wireless Matswi who lives alone.
Through his Batho Ba Morako Construction, Maake fixed the ceiling, painted the walls, rewired the electricity with new cables and plugs, replacing window panes and inside doors.
The old man said he was fast asleep when the fire started in one of the rooms.

“Neighbours broke the door and took me to safety. I really don’t know what caused the fire which destroyed the inside of the fire including the roof,” he said.
Matswi was extremely happy and excited when Maake, who was the subcontractor when the houses were built, arrived to deliver the material to add some finishing touches.

He expressed his gratitude to Maake for what he says is a generous donation. Maake’s charitable donations were also felt by some of the beneficiaries of the RDP houses who received money to buy curtains for their houses.

A few years ago he donated a two-bedroom house to the family of Modjadji Mashele in Makuleke village outside Malamulele.
The donation came after he realised that the family of five has been living in a dilapidated rondavel for many years.
“Helping the needy is part of my life. I don’t have much but I help wherever I can,” said Maake.
