Elderly helps to keep Hoedies clean

The elderly from Gracious Living retirement village did their part to keep Hoedspruit clean recently.

It was a great sight to see, as they carefully picked up the litter and fill their refuse bags while chit-chatting with each other.

These elderly aged between 75 and 90 felt the need to give back because they felt the community did a lot for them.

Since Covid-19 started various restaurants in Hoedspruit provided them with hot meals daily.

“They did this selfless act even when they themselves were struggling and that meant a lot to us,” said Yolande Botha, coordinator at Gracious Living retirement village.

She said the elderly wanted to give back to the community and show gratitude for the support shown to them in various ways.

“They wanted to show how grateful they are, they are a great bunch with a very good sense of humor they love cooking and baking,” said Yolande.

These lovely elders also enjoy crocheting blankets and having their tea together.

They are also part of a Bible study group. Gracious Living retirement village has an in-house auxiliary nurse who ensures that these energetic elders’ health is taken care of.
