Mambo is 12 years old

He was born 29 August 2009, and has grown into a fascinating and handsome bull who enjoys being close to his herd when playing or challenging individual members.

The Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) wished a happy birthday to their mischievous elephant bull, Mambo, who turned 12 years on Sunday, August 29.  He was born 29 August 2009, and has grown into a fascinating and handsome bull who enjoys being close to his herd when playing or challenging individual members.  He’s also happy grazing off quietly alone but seems to never be too far from watchful mother, Lundi or best friend, Zindoga (Bubi’s son).  ALSO READ: Fenya sadly passes away after a month at HERD

“He is so much more than just mischievous, he is bold, confident, protective, brave, curious, independent and showing all the attributes that may make him a fine dominant bull one day.”

“Thank you to Mambo’s foster parents and supporters who have helped us to care for, sustain and protect him and his herd over the years,” HERD stated on Facebook.
