PMC Phalaborwa’s CEO’s 2025 Easter message

Reflecting on Easter, safety, and unity, PMC's CEO Guangmin Wei shares a message from on community, progress, and responsible mining.

As we approach Easter weekend, I want to take this opportunity to reflect not only on the spirit of this season but also on the importance of safety—at work and at home. I am honoured to serve at the helm of a company that continues to be a responsible corporate citizen of the Ba-Phalaborwa community. It is equally humbling to enjoy a solid and impactful relationship with our government, traditional leaders, contractors and local businesses, as we share a common goal of seeing this town of ours prosper.

Easter is a time of renewal, reflection, and hope. It reminds us of the strength found in unity, and the possibilities that lie ahead when we commit to caring for one another. In our industry, where every shift carries responsibility and risk, these values are especially meaningful.

Mining is a demanding field that requires perseverance, innovation, and teamwork. Just as Easter marks a season of new beginnings, it’s also a time for us to look forward—to new opportunities, safer practices, stronger communities, and continued sustainable growth. Our recent accomplishment of being named Top Employer for 2025, for the 3rd consecutive year is evidence of our commitment to providing quality Human Resources practices in our efforts to create a dynamic, inclusive and progressive workplace. It is equally important for us to ensure that our communities are also supported, especially in the business and education sectors, which are areas that have the potential to sustain our town and communities.

At Palabora Mining Company, we pride ourselves on placing safety above all else. It’s more than a priority—it’s a core value that shapes every decision we make. From our ongoing investment in advanced safety technologies to the development of rigorous training programs and our “See Something, Say Something and Save Someone” culture, we are constantly working to ensure that each of us goes home safely, every single day. I am immensely proud of the dedication and hard work shown by every member of our organization who are also members of the community. It is through our collective efforts that we can power industries, support livelihoods, and help shape the future.

As many of you take this time to travel, spend time with family, or take a well-deserved rest, I urge you to continue carrying that same awareness and commitment to safety into your personal lives. Let us not forget that the Easter weekend has unfortunately become associated with road fatalities.

I would like to plead with everyone who intends to travel to exercise caution on the road to obey all the traffic rules and regulations to ensure that we all arrive at our various destinations alive and well. Despite this period bringing a much-anticipated break for some, it can also be one of sorrow for others, hence there is a need to be vigilant during this season. Your safety is of paramount importance, not only to your colleagues and friends, but especially to your families.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful, peaceful, and above all, safe Easter.

Warm regards,
Guangmin Wei
