Organiser, Ryno Kunneke, says that the event raised an estimated R15 000 and that close to 300 toys were donated. Despite the rainy conditions the event was a success and promises to be even bigger next year. “We are grateful for the support we got despite the rainy conditions on Saturday and Sunday morning,” says Kunneke.

On Saturday morning about 20 cyclists enjoyed a 35km fun ride to kick off the event. Saturday’s entertainment included a modern rendition of Rapunzel, titled ‘Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow’ by Dramatic Drama Academy to entertain the youngsters. Merensky High School’s whip-cracking team was a hit with their synchronised performance, inspiring some supporters to try their whip-cracking skills on the rugby field. Wilma van der Westhuizen was crowned the winner of the potjiekos competition with Dirk van der Westhuizen in second place and Ben Kruger in third place.
