Fabulous Woman recognises Edwina for community work

Community builder, Edwina Mlondobodzi’s hard work and contribution to the community of Nkowankowa has not gone unnoticed.

She has been nominated for a prestigious 2023 Fabulous Women Award. Mlondobodzi was nominated in the category Community Builder and Changemaker of the Year. The awards are aimed at honouring South African women and girls who do sterling work in the empowerment and advancement of women and are the embodiment of ethical womanhood in the country.

The 28-year-old is the founder of Girls Matter Drive, an organisation that empowers women, with the motto, “I am my sister’s keeper”. They are involved in the community where there is a need, including schools and on the sports field.

Last year she was named Brand South Africa ambassador at Meropa Casino for her extraordinary contribution to the country. She was selected alongside former Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo Musida, and has in partnership with Brand South Africa been involved in community projects. Last year she was also named a young trailblazer by the National Youth Development Agency during Youth Month.

“I really feel honoured to have been nominated. It is good to know that there are other people acknowledging what I do within my community. “Audrey Hepburn once said that as you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands – one for helping yourself and the other for helping others; I’m glad that I’m doing that,” she said. The awards will take place in August and the finalists will be officially notified soon.
