Modjadjiskloof police restores relations with community

Police in Modjadjiskloof reached out to local businesses, organisations and authorities to celebrate Mandela Day.

Acting station commander, Capt Gladwin Baloyi joined hands with Westfalia Fruit Estate, the traffic department at Greater Letaba Municipality, the provincial traffic department, police sector manager WO Job Grant, the crime prevention division, divisional police office, FF Plus councillors, Youth Community Outreach Programme (YCOP) members, the Community Police Forum (CPF), the crime prevention youth desk and SPAR to discuss service delivery in the police.

Const Eliot Mabulane engaged with the community and outlined their rights in terms of service delivery in the police. The CPF chairperson, Caiphus Mohale, invited community members and the acting station commander to join hands to fight crime. Westfalia Fruit Estate pledged to work with the police along with SPAR in Modjadjiskloof and other stakeholders who did not want to be named.

Westfalia Fruit Estate donated sanitary pads to the police’s Victim Empowerment Program (VEP) and SPAR celebrated by gifting a Mandela cake symbolising peace and rebirth.The SPAR Express in Mooketsi also donated refreshments. “We appreciate the feedback we received from the community and the opportunity to work together to curb crime,” said Baloyi during the celebration.

The celebration was followed by a briefing at the station to discuss crime and a way forward. The senior citizens in attendance cut the cake and were reminded of their rights.
