Hoedspruit Chamber/Sakekamer starts food gardens

To celebrate Mandela Day, the Hoedspruit Chamber/Sakekamer (HCS) facilitated a community garden project presented by the NGO, Garden and Life.

HCS says in a media statement that participants from Hoedspruit and neighboring communities were invited to attend the “gardening for sustainable food production in a micro-farming format”.

A demonstration of micro-farming.

It says micro-farming has proven successful in rural areas and can be implemented at schools, by entrepreneurs, community organisations, clinics and churches to boost sustainable food production in their areas.

According to HCS, Lowveld Academy will be the first of hopefully many community gardens in the area. HCS says their projects are only possible with the support of their members and invite residents and businesses to join the chamber.

Garden and Life has made a copy of its micro-farming available for anyone that wants to start the pioneering micro-farming project. For this, and for more information on HCS, email hoedspruitcs@gmail. com.
