This was according to the MEC of Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Rodgers Monama, during the official launch of Tourism Month at the Palala Boutique Lodge and Spa in Lephalale on Tuesday, August 15. September 27 is World Tourism Day and South Africa has adopted it as its tourism month. The global theme as set by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation for this year is, “Tourism and Green Investments”.
This theme emphasises the significant role of tourism in fostering inclusive economic growth and development, he said. Monama said his hope is that tourism activities in September may entice tourists to visit the province. These include the Phala Phala FM Royal Heritage Festival in Thohoyandou at the Nandoni Dam on Saturday, September 16; Miss Heritage Global at Kalahari Waterfront Resort in Thohoyandou on Saturday, September 23; and the National Parks/Mahala Week from Saturday, September 16-24.

The National Parks Week will afford visitors the opportunity to Igo to any of the national parks in the country, including the Kruger National Park (KNP) and Mapungubwe National Park, among others. The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) CEO, Moses Ngobeni, also introduced the official hashtags for this year as #MoreToEnjoy and #Golimpopo He encouraged members of the public to upload their pictures while visiting some of the attractions using these hashtags and tag the Limpopo Tourism Agency’s social media platforms to help inspire travel in the province.
LTA board chairperson, Andrew Dipela, confirmed that the province, according to Statistics South Africa, is rated third in terms of domestic tourism in the country. Dipela concluded the launch by shouting “Come to Limpopo, because there is more to enjoy in Limpopo”.
