Foundation honours learners for good achievements

Seventeen matriculants who took part in the Gift and Chairman's mentor programme presented by the Enock Mathebula Foundation were bid farewell during a splendid function hosted at Borwa Lifestyle Centre.

Grade 12’s and other learners from Majeje and Nkateko high schools in Lulekani gathered to celebrate the fruitful year they had in the mentorship programme. Among the attendees were educators, the principal and the circuit manager who had encouraging messages to the learners who were leaving school and those advancing to the next grade.

They expressed their gratitude to the foundation for the role it has played in the learners’ lives and the impact it has had on both schoolwork and self-confidence as young men and women. The foundation invited prominent speakers who gave messages of support to the learners. Among them were Dr Levy Baloyi, CEO of the Mopani TVET College who emphasised the imperativeness of education irrespective of the pressures of society.

Susan Shitlhelana used metaphors of ‘the five gowns’, matric graduation, matric dance, university graduation, marriage and motherhood and fatherhood gowns, encouraging the learners to follow them in that order. Miss Teen Universe finalist, Chantelle Mabunda, also attended the event with a message to learners to love themselves just the way they are. It was a joyous occasion as the learners received gifts and certificates of participation and ended the event with dance.
