Phaahla resigns from ActionSA to join MK

The party states that they received his resignation letter earlier this month citing resource challenges.

ActionSA has confirmed that the party’s provincial chairperson, Letsiri Phaahla, has resigned. According to ActionSA, it was later found that Phaahla had allegedly been negotiating his membership with the new MK party for some time. “This kind of politics has no place in ActionSA,” Michael Beaumont, the national chairperson said.

Phaahla was involved in education justice and earlier this year assisted learners in getting late placements at schools in the Capricorn district. Victor Mathemela, who has been the head of the party’s campaign in Limpopo will take on the role of provincial chairperson.

Mathemela served as a corporal in the South African Defense Force (SANDF) and a detective sergeant in the SAPS before going into business. The new chairman has already started his duties with a social justice programme to restore the dignity of workers through the insourcing of security guards and cleaners by state entities.

“We will push to implement insourcing in government departments and entities where feasible and practical when we take up seats in Parliament and in the provincial legislature in 2024,” Mathemela said.
