Phalaborwa Municipality wins award for MIG
Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality has received an award for achieving 100% Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) funding for the 2022/2023 financial year.

The institution was awarded during the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Municipal Awards, held at Fusion Boutique in Polokwane last week. The award acknowledges effective financial management and commitment to infrastructure development.
Mayor Merriam Malatji welcomed the award indicating that it will restore public confidence in the local government institution. Other municipalities in the Mopani district were also honoured. The Mopani District Municipality received an award for the most improved audit performance in the 2022/2023 financial year.

Greater Letaba Municipality walked away with four awards including 100% MIG spending; 100% MIG spending and additional allocation; 100% spending on MIG additional allocation and lastly for sustaining unqualified audit opinion.
The Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) was also honoured with three awards including sustaining an unqualified audit for four consecutive years; achieving 100% spending on the MIG, and the Greater Tzaneen Economic Development Agency’s (GTEDA) consistent clean audits. GTEDA is a subsidiary wholly owned by GTM, it has been instrumental in driving economic growth and development in the region.
