Papa Penny’s all white party an explosion of glamour and fun

Legendary Xitsonga musician, Penny Penny, celebrated his 62 birthday in style recently at his Papa Penny palace in Nkuri village outside Giyani.

The occasion also celebrated 31 years of Penny Penny’s music career and 10 years of the Shakabundu Foundation, which distributes groceries to the villagers monthly. The all white dress code, was a star-studded event, with various celebrities from the music, business and broadcasting industries in attendance. The Xitsonga disco king also celebrated the day with his two kids, Nomi and Penny Jr who shares a birthday month with him.

“The main reason for the big event, was to celebrate the 62 years which God has given me to live and to celebrate with my people. “We had slaughtered two cows, 10 goats and bought enough drinks for everyone,” he said. The event was broadcasted live by Munghana Lonene FM and musicians performed on stage to entertain the crowd. Papa Penny also performed with his band, which turned the birthday celebration, into a music festival, which ended on Sunday morning.

He appreciates all his fans who supported him throughout the three decades and thanked his friends who came bearing gifts. He says he has about 64 songs which are not yet released and he will soon shoot his popular reality show, ‘Papa Penny Ahee’ which airs on TV.
