Spotty finally finds forever home in Hoedspruit
Spotty has found her forever home after a tumultuous past, once struggling to survive, she has been rescued and has a second chance at life.
LIMPOPO – Spotty, a dog whose story has captured the hearts of residents, has found her forever home.
Spotty was first spotted and treated by Animal Education for Communities (ALECS) while living with her owner in Worcester village. She had two litters under the most difficult circumstances, never enough food, nor caring hands to show her much affection.
After ALECS received permission to spay her, things started to get better. “At least she didn’t have the burden of perpetual breeding and nursing puppies anymore,” said Christine Otto of ALECS.
“She was fortunate enough to find herself a sponsor in Christine Bauer who diligently made sure Spotty received a bag of dog food every month,” said Otto. Spotty was unfortunately abandoned after her owner lost his job and had to relocate. “We went to pick her up and brought her into foster care,” said Otto.
Here, Spotty’s journey took yet another turn. Gerti Kusseler and her team from Wait A Little Big Five Horse Safaris were looking for another member for their family. After an article in the Herald, Kusseler approached ALECS.
“This lovely dog is now living her dream, and she will never want anything ever again. Gerti and her manager, Kerryn Routledge have given Spotty a new life.”
Otto said many helped Spotty along the way. She thanked Terry Hannum, Kristin Nordmark, Christine Bauer, Lynn-Ann Sanders, Lillian von Maltitz, Carol Barry, Anja Fuhrer, Elisa Best, Simone Vogt and Shanré Scheepers.
