Stanford Lake’s floral extravaganza raises funds for local causes

Stanford Lake College hosts their annual La Chanson Des Fleurs, a charity flower show supporting local causes.

TZANEEN – Stanford Lake College (SLC) hosted its annual flower show, La Chanson Des Fleurs, a highlight on the Limpopo calendar on Saturday, October 19.

All proceeds of this charity event are donated to the SPCA, Goue Jare Old Age Home and Noah’s Ark Children’s Home.

Nadine Arendse, marketing manager at SLC, told the Herald that communities from as far afield as White River, Botswana and Louis Trichardt came together to support those in need.

“Over 200 attendees gathered and decorated their tables in anticipation of a live floral fashion show, that did not disappoint,” she said.
The models in the show were mostly Gr 11 learners from Stanford Lake College.

Guests were also treated to a performance by local songstress Zoë Koster who recently competed at the South African Championship of Performing Arts where she received seven silver medals and one gold medal in the 18 to 24 age category, which led to her being chosen to represent South Africa at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles.

This year saw 12 talented floral artists showcase their skills. The florists were from the Tzaneen Flower Club as well as a few from Louis Trichardt and Graskop.

The event included a silent auction that saw guests place bids for various items including a vanilla orchid, Kleine Zalze wine and getaways at some local destinations.

“We would like to extend our thanks to all the guests who participated in this event and look forward to another successful event next year,” Arendse said.
