Hoedspruit police station wins top administration award

Hoedspruit Police Station's administration team wins top honours at SAPS Excellence Awards, recognised for service and teamwork.

LIMPOPO – Hoedspruit Police Station has the best administration team in the Mopani district.

The team received the award during the SAPS Prestigious Excellence Awards which took place at Shidila Lodge in Kgapane outside of Tzaneen on Thursday, October 24.

Hannah Mokoena and Mapula Makgoba received the award from the Mopani commander Maj Gen Willy Mashava.

The awards acknowledge the work done by staff members including all ranks of police officers, cleaners, data capturers, finance department officials and administration personnel.

The awards start at district level and progress to provincial and ultimately at a national level.

Mokoena received the award on behalf of the team. “This encourages us to continue serving our station with excellence. We make sure that we are always on top of our work all the time and we have a good team spirit,” she said.

Other winners included Sgt Glenda Mathebula from Tzaneen’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit who was named Employee of the Year in her department.

Mashava acknowledged the members as he said, “Today, we have gathered here to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our dedicated members. To our police officers, I extend my deepest gratitude for your tireless efforts in serving and protecting our communities. Your bravery, selflessness and commitment to justice are the bedrock of our society.

“To our recipients, congratulations, your exceptional service, leadership and innovation have earned you this well-deserved recognition,” he said. Mashava also applauded his predecessor Major General Maggie Mathebula, he said, “Your legacy of excellence inspired us. Thank you for being here and we are privileged to have a true icon in law enforcement,” he said.

The winners will soon compete in the provincial rounds of the awards.
