Southern Cross Gr 8’s master etiquette and cooking skills
Southern Cross learners recently hosted parents and guests for a three-course meal, showcasing their culinary skills and table manners.
LIMPOPO – Gr 8’s of Southern Cross Schools presented their etiquette dinner after thorough planning in the last weeks of school.
They sent out their invitations, sorted out their menu, stayed within their budget and successfully made a three-course meal for their parents and guests to enjoy.
This year’s menu required them to make a pate or dip from scratch which was not allowed to be served with crackers or bread.
For the main course, their protein and starch were determined by games that they had to play in groups.
Dessert this year had a Christmas theme to it.
Dessert is made on the night and the learners have no idea what they are going to make, which led to a lot of fun.
“Well done to our Gr 8 class. You outdid yourselves and have learned far more than just the meal-making. The healthy eating, table etiquette and other components that are taught are just as important,” the school stated.
