Hospital remembers Tzaneen dietitian

Colleagues and friends pay tribute to dietitian Ronald Mandlhazi after his body was found burnt beyond recognition in his car.

TZANEEN – Ronald Mandlhazi, chief dietitian at Letaba Hospital, was defined as ‘ever smiling’, during his memorial service at Yingisani Special School outside of Nkowankowa on Thursday afternoon.

The hospital had organised the service to honour the man many described as jovial, a die-hard Sundowns fan and a true public servant.

Mandlhazi’s death sent shock waves across the province after his body was found burnt beyond recognition inside his bakkie at Tarantaal on the R71 on Saturday, December 21.

Police reports state that on Friday, December 20, he left home to go to work at the hospital where he worked for 22 years, but never reached his destination and could not be traced anywhere until the next day, when his body was discovered. His identity was revealed through DNA tests last week.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday morning at Magomani Village in Malamulele and then afterwards the funeral service will be held at Tivumbeni Hall in Nkowankowa.

The police are still investigating the case and no arrests have been made yet.
