Tzaneen doctor praised for lifesaving care
Resident Magda Stone praises Dr Curvin Mathebula and the Tzaneen Healthcare Hub for lifesaving emergency care and compassion.
TZANEEN – Tzaneen resident Magda Stone has nothing but praise for Dr Curvin Mathebula at the Tzaneen Healthcare Hub (THH), following the exceptional care he provided to her husband during a medical emergency.
Stone shared with the Herald that she was initially given a late afternoon appointment at another facility for her severely ill husband, who was running a high fever after a fall that left him with a leg wound. Concerned about his deteriorating condition, Stone decided to seek help at THH.
“A friend had once told me about the excellent service at THH,” Stone explained. “My husband’s fever was fluctuating between 38°C and 40°C, and he was shivering and shaking. I couldn’t wait until the 16:00 appointment, so I decided to take him to THH.”
Stone said she called the THH and explained her husband’s condition to the staff, who immediately advised her to bring him in.
“He was promptly placed on an IV drip, given antibiotics, and covered with a blanket because of his high fever,” she recalled. “Dr Mathebula arrived, examined him, cleaned the wound, and performed a small procedure.”
Three days later, Stone and her husband returned for a follow-up visit, where Dr Mathebula went above and beyond by personally cleaning the wound and even fetching the necessary medication from Van Heerden Pharmacy located in the facility.
“Dr Mathebula’s dedication to his work is remarkable. He genuinely cares and shows so much compassion,” Stone said, adding that she was deeply touched by his kindness.
Stone also commended the Tzaneen Healthcare Hub for its clean and well-maintained facilities.
“I just want to thank Dr Mathebula for his help. He’s truly been a lifesaver,” she said. “The entire team, from the receptionists to the assistants, and the Van Heerden Pharmacy staff, were all kind and attentive.”
