Limpopo EFF marches on ZZ2 over labour, land issues
The EFF marched to ZZ2 in Mooketsi to deliver a memorandum alleging racism, worker exploitation, and restricted gravesite access.
TZANEEN – On Friday, May 31, members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) marched to the headquarters of ZZ2 in Mooketsi to deliver a memorandum of grievances against the agricultural company.
The EFF claims that local community members are being denied access to gravesites of family members buried on land owned by ZZ2. In addition, the party alleges that it has received multiple complaints from farm workers and residents in nearby communities about various issues, including racism, worker exploitation, and the bribing of community members to gain access to public services.
According to the EFF, ZZ2 is also involved in questionable labour practices. They allege that the company transports foreign workers to border posts to reapply for work permits, raising concerns about possible corruption in the process.
The EFF has given ZZ2 seven working days to formally respond to the demands outlined in their memorandum.
When approached for comment, ZZ2 spokesperson Clive Garrett said the company had no comment on the matter at this time.
