Tzaneen police launch manhunt after gang rape

Police in Tzaneen are searching for three suspects after a 32-year-old woman was gang-raped in Bolobedu South on Sunday.

TZANEEN – Police in Tzaneen have launched an intensive manhunt following the alleged gang rape of a 32-year-old woman in Motupa village, Bolobedu South.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 2 August 2025. The victim, who resides in Mareroni village, was walking home at approximately 04:00 when she was accosted by three unknown men. The suspects allegedly assaulted her and took turns raping her until she lost consciousness.

She later regained consciousness around 06:00 to find herself partially undressed and surrounded by members of the public.

Three counts of rape were officially opened at Tzaneen Police Station, and a search is underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators is urged to contact the investigating officer, Lieutenant Colonel Mahlane, on 082 429 2625, call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, or visit the nearest police station. Information can also be shared via the MySAPSApp.

Police investigations are ongoing.
