Shawela murder suspect arrested in 24 hours

Limpopo police have arrested a 34-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend in Shawela Village, near Giyani.

LIMPOPO – Police have arrested a 34-year-old man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in Shawela Village, within the Giyani policing precinct, yesterday.

The suspect was tracked down and apprehended earlier this morning while hiding in Nsavulani, another section of Shawela. His swift arrest followed an order from the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, who had directed that all available resources be mobilised to ensure his capture.

Hadebe praised the investigating team for their decisive work and thanked community members whose co-operation and information were instrumental in the arrest.

“This case is a clear demonstration that when police and the community work together, justice is served. I applaud all those who came forward with positive information that led to the arrest of this ruthless suspect,” she said.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (August 20), facing a charge of murder.
