Tzaneen Lifestyle Centre announces major expansion
Residents can look forward to Pick n Pay, Coricraft, @home and more as Tzaneen Lifestyle Centre undergoes a major expansion.
TZANEEN – The Tzaneen Lifestyle Centre is set to undergo a 22 000 m² expansion, creating space for more national retail outlets.
The announcement was made by Suzan Tempel, head of retail at Resilient Properties, during the official opening of the Tzaneen Learning Lab on Wednesday, September 3. She confirmed that building plans have already been approved and construction is expected to begin within the next 18 months.
“We will be adding a Pick n Pay, and shoppers can also look forward to brands such as Coricraft and @home,” Tempel said. “This means residents won’t have to travel to Polokwane anymore.”
According to Tempel, the expansion is designed to meet the growing needs of the local community. “Many people don’t realise that Tzaneen is a regional hub. At first glance, it may not seem sustainable, but the demand is strong,” she explained.

The first site meeting took place on Wednesday, September 10, and negotiations with several retailers are already underway.
Most have responded positively, although a few agreements still need to be finalised.
Tempel also thanked the Greater Tzaneen Municipality for its support, saying it had been a valuable partner in realising the vision for the town.
Resilient Properties currently owns Tzaneng Mall, Tzaneen Crossing Mall, and the Tzaneen Lifestyle Centre, as well as the Mall of the North in Polokwane.

The expansion comes amid a wave of retail developments in Tzaneen. A new Food Lover’s Market is set to open its 3 000m² store along the R71 on Wednesday, September 18. Last year saw the launch of the Aqua Spar Centre, while OK Sugarhill is currently upgrading its store in Adshade Street.
The Herald previously reported that Woolworths Food would move into the space vacated by Food Lover’s Market at the Lifestyle Centre. However, with the latest expansion plans, it remains unclear whether that is still the case.
