Tzaneen bead artist has big dreams for his handmade art

Craftsman Peter Chivazve turns his lifelong passion for beads and wire into unique home décor pieces.

TZANEEN – Peter Chivazve is a self-taught beads and wire artist who specialises in creating beautiful home decorations.

His passion for crafting began as a young boy in Zimbabwe, where he used to make toy cars out of wire.

Over time, his creativity expanded as he explored different art forms by reading books and learning new techniques. This growth led him to transition from making toy cars to designing unique home ornaments.

More than 20 years ago, Peter left Zimbabwe and moved to South Africa to grow his business. He has since established himself mainly in Tzaneen and Polokwane. In Tzaneen, he regularly sells his creations at Minitzani in Boundary Street.

Despite the challenges of running a small business, Peter remains determined and proud to provide for his family through his craft. Like many others, his business was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, but has slowly started to recover in the post-pandemic period.
